Placitas
By Krista Rundiks

A bright November day
Driving on a peaceful country road
Bordered by small desert mountains

Stopped at an alluring adobe church
Filled with exquisite oil paintings
Impressions of the local desert landscape

Greeted by majestic stained-glass windows
Vibrantly casting colors of purple and yellow
Against the white burnished walls

A soothing cello resounding in the hall

A short walk up the dirt road
Following the lead of the gently winding curb
Resting in the distance, a magical vineyard

Restoring itself in the tranquil autumn
Awaiting summers splendor
A glimpse of two wild horses

A carefree curious heart
Bookmarking the memory
For another visit, for another season

Back to this land of enchantment
